Is America Ready for a Female President—or Just President Hillary?
Pollsters Jeffrey Liszt and Lisa Grove shared that in a recent survey of voters in battleground states, a whopping 72% “believe that it is likely that our next president will be a woman.” This information, of course, makes sense only in a political landscape featuring Hillary. It may be that nearly three-quarters of voters are ready (perhaps even eager) to elevate a generic woman to the Big Chair. But, absent Hillary, no way 72% of any group would consider such an outcome likely in the very next election.
Agree with that, tumblr?
Women, certainly in our day and age, have much more capacity to understand that there is something noble about attending to your daily needs. You may not build cathedrals, but every day you feed your children, you clean your house. This is part of the human condition.
Louise Arbour, Crisis Group’s President and CEO, in an interview with the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs
Scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned Wednesday that an untreatable, multidrug-resistant “superbug” is spreading in U.S. hospitals and other health care facilities. Fifteen separate strains of Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriacea (CRE) were observed in patients in the U.S. in 2012. The bacteria can cause pneumonia, as well as infection in the urinary tract, intestines and the bloodstream.
USA Today reported that species of CRE have infected patients at the National Institute of Health Hospital outside Washington, D.C., killing a 16-year-old boy, as well as at the University of Virginia Hospital, where 7 patients died and thousands of other cases in dozens of hospitals and nursing homes in the U.S. over the last decade. Death rates among CRE-positive patients range from 40 to 50 percent.
Often, physicians don’t realize they’re dealing with a multidrug-resistant infection until it’s too late to save the patient’s life. CRE can remain dormant in the system for long periods of time, striking when it finds an opening in the body’s immune defenses.
According to Science Daily, CRE can remain in the body up to a year after infection. A study published in the March issue of the American Journal of Infection Control said that patients who tested positive for CRE took, on average, 387 days after hospital discharge to clear their system of the bug. The study, conducted at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, followed 97 CRE-positive patients who were discharged from the hospital between January 2009 and December of 2010.
Since the first known U.S. case was reported at a North Carolina hospital in 2001, CRE has spread to 41 other states, although in many cases it goes unrecognized because smaller hospitals lack the necessary diagnostic tools to detect it. The lack of clear data about infection rates is frustrating to many clinicians.
Stephen Ostroff, director of epidemiology at the Pennsylvania Department of Health, told USA Today, “We don’t have enough … data to tell what the trend looks like. All we know is that it is here.”
People who have recently been treated with antibiotics are particularly susceptible to infections by CRE. Currently, there are no drug therapies for infections, and none are currently expected, given that no new antibiotics are currently in production.

Obama’s chances of winning the election have now dropped to 67.9%.
That’s down from 85.7% just 10 days ago.
This is nearly unprecedented, as Gallop shows only two other occasions where a debate was a game changer.
What amazes me is in the weeks leading up to the debate, Romney made gaff after embarrassing gaff, made the 47% remarks, and everyone just seemed to forget about it.
There is still just under a month until the election, and I’m worried that this is more than enough time for Romney to somehow manage to pull off a win.
The Mormon owners of a Mexican cafe in Denver says that they have gotten death threats, hate calls and fake orders after refusing to allow Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to make campaign stop at their restaurant.
“One person who called said, ‘Watch your back. We know where live and we’re going after you,’” Oscar Aguirre, the son of the owners of Rosa Linda Mexican Cafe, told KMGH. “We just didn’t want our business used as a campaign stop.”
Aguirre explained that callers had been misinformed that the restaurant had refused to serve Romney.
“It was presented to us that [Romney] wanted to do a political stump here,” he said. “[He wanted to] talk about our small business [and] because we share our religious views with the candidate and are Latinos it would be great for him to do a campaign stop.”
“We did say ‘no’ because we are not Republicans, nor are we Democrats. We will welcome any sitting President of the United States. But, we did not want to be a campaign stop.”
The Mexican Cafe has also been flooded with fake orders and canceled reservations, according to Aguirre.
“Two people ordered $150 worth of food for lunch to be picked up today. They called later and said, ‘Oh, you’re the one who doesn’t want Romney in your business’ and they canceled their orders, even though the food had been prepared,” he recalled.
Aguirre said that the trouble began after an article published by Denver Westword earlier this week reported that their mother had refused the Romney campaign’s offer because “religion and politics don’t mix.”
“Since this article came out we have been getting hate emails, from people across the country, people sending us death threats and people calling us telling us we are racist… that they hope we go out of business,” Aguirre wrote in a letter on Wednesday. “If we do go out of business our Annual Thanksgiving Feast to the needy would end. Last year we fed 5500 meals, this year we may serve above 6000 meals.”
Why is it whenever you hear about shit like this happening (the death treats, the attempts to put a small business out of business) it always comes from the right?
The party of “family values” and “morals” will threaten to fucking kill you if you’re not on board with them.

Calling Newt Gingrich:
Who uses food stamps and other welfare programs. And no, Newt, it turns out they’re not all African American.
From Charles Blow.
History Time!
Even though today Americans incorrectly associate welfare dependency with Black people, Black people were excluded from the welfare system for most of its history.
Welfare was meant for immigrant women. Proponents of the welfare system thought that urban immigrants threatened “the social order.” Welfare was seen as not only charity but also as a way of “supervising and disciplining recipients.” They felt that the cure for single mothers’ poverty was for these foreigners to “conform to American family standards.”
Black single mothers were not included in this effort. Welfare was intended for White mothers only. Administrators either set-up regulations that disqualified Blacks (such as eligibility standards that excluded domestic servants) or didn’t enact programs in areas that had large Black populations.
“As a result, in 1931 the first national survey of mothers’ pensions broken down by race found that only three percent of recipients were Black.”
In addition to this, other programs, such as those enacted in the New Deal, also excluded Blacks. When Blacks were able to gain access to some benefits, they were given less than Whites on the grounds that “Blacks needed less than Whites to live off of.”
Blacks only began to gain access to assistant programs through the Civil Rights era. As a result of lots of hard work by grassroots organizations, welfare benefits were secured for all.
However, this became a double edged sword kinda victory for Black America.
“As AFDC became increasingly associated with Black mothers already stereotyped as lazy, irresponsible, and overly fertile, it became increasingly burdened with behavior modification, work requirements, and reduced effective benefit levels. Social Security, on the other hand, effectively transferred income from Blacks to whites because Blacks have a lower life expectancy and pay a disproportionate share of taxes on earnings. Meanwhile, a white backlash had decimated the War on Poverty programs within a decade.”

And if you do, by chance, find yourself struggling with drowning, then no life-saving or otherwise procedure or act should be allowed to be administered. You got yourself into this mess, you have to live with the consequences.
You should see drowning as a gift.
You, there with the sunglasses! You’re just asking for it.
Also, if you were forcibly pushed into the water, don’t worry. If it was a legitimate pushing, your body will find a way to shut out all the water and survive the drowning.
